Minimally invasive gynecologic surgery

Whenever possible, our gynecologic surgeons use a minimally invasive approach to procedures. "Minimally invasive" means the procedure is done through smaller incisions than a traditional approach, generally causing less pain and scarring while allowing the patient to have a faster recovery.

Laparascopic surgery is a minimally invasive approach where a laparascope (a small, slender tube with a tiny camera and light on the end) and thin surgical tools are passed through small incisions in the abdomen for diagnostic or treatment purposes.

Robotic surgery is another type of minimally invasive surgery where a specially trained surgeon performs a procedure using leading-edge robotic technology. The surgeon is in control of the robot at all times, but the robotic arms provide greater dexterity and precision than what's possible with the human hand while special 3D optics allow for high-definition visualization inside the body and the crucial addition of depth perception.

Vaginal rejuvenation

Post-menopausal women over 60 years old commonly experience vaginal dryness, burning, itching, irritation, incontinence and painful intercourse due to post-menopause vaginal atrophy, which causes discomfort, sexual dysfunction and emotional distress.

Our minimally invasive, CO2-laser vaginal revitalization procedure alleviates symptoms of vaginal atrophy by delivering gentle laser energy to the vaginal wall tissue to help generate new collagen, elastin and vascularization. It is a painless service that takes less than five minutes and can be done on an outpatient basis, causing virtually no interruption to your usual routine.

For maximum treatment benefits, we recommend three sessions of the procedure, scheduled about six weeks apart. For follow-up care, discuss your treatment and overall health at your annual appointment.

For more information about the procedure, please call (316) 858-7100.
