Primary care

Primary care refers to the day-to-day healthcare you receive from your doctor. A primary care physician provides annual checkups, vaccines, physicals, care for minor injuries and illnesses and also helps facilitate specialized healthcare needs.

Primary care doctors in Wichita

Our team of primary care doctors across the Wesley Care Physicians network helps patients manage their healthcare through a proactive approach to preventing or managing a current disease.

We address all facets of healthcare, from annual physicals and checkups to acute issues like colds. Our family and internal medicine physicians are highly skilled in treating pediatric, adult and senior patients, providing education and guidance and encouraging older-adult patients to take a more active role in their health.

Internal medicine vs family medicine

Internal medicine doctors specialize in treating patients 18 years and older, or primarily adults. They do not have specific training in pediatric care. Some internists are primary care physicians with no sub-specialties. Other internal medicine doctors get further training in sub-specialties like hematology, oncology or cardiovascular disease.

Family medicine doctors specialize in patients of all ages, children and adults 18 years and older, including geriatrics. They are trained to diagnose and treat a broad range of diseases and conditions.
